How it started...

Dave embarked on his locksmithing journey in 1998, gaining experience in various aspects of the trade. In 2013, he established 'Port Stephens Locksmiths', specialising in Commercial projects, Access control, and New build / Renovation hardware.

It wasn’t until acquiring their first Caravan that the idea of 1Key came along. Not stoked with all the locks that come with a new van, Dave promptly replaced the standard caravan locks with a system that allowed one key to operate all locks and hatches. This decision stemmed from his locksmith background and desire for enhanced security and convenience.

Having interacted with numerous caravan owners during his 20+ years in locksmithing and travels, Dave recognised the need for a secure and convenient solution for caravans. This realisation led to the inception of The 1Key Company, blending Dave's locksmithing expertise with his love for travel and the outdoors. Teaming up with Jamie, skilled in business operations, they have made a significant impact in the Caravan industry since 2022.

In 2023, Dave divested Port Stephens Locksmiths to focus solely on 1 Key Caravan due to the increasing demand for versatile locks tailored to various Caravans.

When not innovating new product solutions, preparing kits, or engaging with customers at events, Dave enjoys caravanning and boating with his wife Jamie, seeking out fishing spots, waves, and great coffee.

A LITTLE HISTORY.

After two years of the 1Key Journey, the level of interest and adoption has exceeded expectations. The 1Key Company has established a vast database of Caravan dealers, manufacturers, and installers across Australia and New Zealand.

The 1Key System stands out as the top caravan security solution in the market. Customers typically fall into two categories: those upgrading their caravan security and convenience by replacing caravan locks and keys using DIY videos, or those requesting it from their dealers for new caravans before receiving them.

Currently, 1KeyCaravan offers replacements for compression locks, Thetford hatch locks, Coast water fillers, Finch picnic table locks, MW toolbox locks, McNaughton drop T locks, Camec doors, Aussie Traveller doors, padlocks, T-handles, shower locks, wing knobs, lockable PVC end caps, with more innovations in the works.

In 2024, The 1Key Company revealed its exclusive distributorship of the TALON range, revolutionising the caravan industry by enabling key-alike functionality for Caravan hitch locks like the D035 and D045 Hitch Pins and locks, all operated with a unique high security bilock 'pink key'.
